Market Day

Sunday today. Time to check out the markets.

Our first market stop was at Montparnasse, where lots of painters and sculptors display the fruit of their inspirations and perspirations. One or two were impressive. With most, I guess I failed to see the world through the artist's eyes.

We popped into the Opera house in the early afternoon to tour its ghostly halls. One problem: a performance of La Traviata was scheduled to start at 2:30, so no go for touristy tours.

Our second market stop was at Porte de Clignancourt, which has mazes of twisty little alleyways between antique shops, and more antique shops, blended with arcades and malls solely comprising antique shops, all surrounded by a marketplace of trinkets, clothes, leathergoods, hats, belt buckles, and enough cheap bling to fill a disused quarry, or four.

We got back to the hotel in time to see the last three sets of the Wimbledon men's final. It seems strange watching Wimbledon during the day.
