Safe in Switzerland

On Monday after a long drive with a few awkward confusing moments (the navigation software seems to count both roundabout entrances and exits as exits), we reached Lugano. Undeterred by Swiss prices, we ate and then explored the city by twilight.

The lake viewed from the station.

A jolly (jolty) little tourist train

Looking across the lake at some of the resorts
Our bus/train trip to St. Moritz wasn't leaving till after 2pm, so we used the morning to travel up Monte San Salvatore by funicular.

Lugano from half-way up - views from the top were hazy.
We also wandered into a church with a lot of frescoes. Not sure who this was supposed to be.
"Stop hiding the apple behind your back, son!"
